When we make a building,
we seek shelter and safety. Thus, it is necessary for us to make our buildings
safe before we move in. These can be achieved by getting it checked by a
building instructor and see if it follows all the building rules andregulations in Berkshire. These regulations, introduced by your local
councillor, are designed to conserve fuel and power, protect and enhance
environment and provide sustainable atmosphere for the well-being of the
residents. An inspector will tell you if your building has any problem, or
should you invest in such a property or not. Sometimes if your building doesn’t
abide by any rules and there is say a accident such as a fire or an earthquake,
the insurance companies can charge a legal case against you instead for not obeying
building rules.
Sometimes there are some
exceptions to buildings which don’t have to obey these rules. These include – small detached
single storey buildings, such as garages, sheds and greenhouses, which
contain no sleeping accommodation. Generally, you don’t need to apply for
permissions for any kind of change in your interiors but if you are planning to
change or extend any part of your resident, externally then you have to apply
for permissions. Some of the extensions, again will fall under building
exemptions. The council has to issue an application within five weeks of its
submission. Given below are the list of rules that falls under building
regulations.
